April Fools has been hit and is not showing signs of stopping

At the Pittsburgh airport, it was sunny and in the 60’s. Once we touched down in Milwalkee, it was raining and somewhere in the 40’s. After reaching Minneapolis, it was cloudy and holding on tight to 33 degrees. Winter is taking a long time to leave. I was hoping winter would be gone by the time we came back.
Before we left, I took some photos of April Fools day that I would like to share with all of you.
This is the view outside our window on the first day of April.

I was invited to an April fools party and had to dress without matching. This sounded like a great job for Jeremy. He picked out every piece. Do you think he did a good job?

While I was at the party, Jeremy took Lynn to Perkins to see the balloon man. Apparently, this is supposed to be a fish on the end of a fishing poll. What do you think the balloon man does on the weekends??

Want to hear a funny story?

After coming home from our visit, Jeremy picked up the car and the battery was dead. He realized that he has left the lights on the whole time we were gone. We had our car jumped, but our turning signal light would not turn off. It ended up with me carrying a wrench to unhook and hook up the battery the next day.
By night time, the battery died on us again and Jeremy was trying to let me go to bed and take care of the situation for me. His cables to jump it would not reach, so he needed to back it out and get it closer to his truck. Well, the battery was dead, so he thought he would push it. For some of you who know, my driveway is in a slope. As a skier does, the car took off. It jumped the curb across the street and into the neighbors back yard. Our neighbors yard is in a 90 degree slope. Praise God, it turned right and rested on their evergreen tree. The only tree in the whole yard. It could have rocketed right into the back of their house!
Jeremy calls me to help, but what can I do? We call the tow, then we had to report the accident to the police. The police officer was a friend of ours from church. We said, “Hi, Tom….” He told us not to be embarassed. Luckily, the neighbor was not upset. The car just turfed the yard quite a bit and broke some branches. When I called the police department, they laughed when they heard the story. Well, every one got a kick out of it.
Kia told us the lights should not have stayed on while we were gone, so the battery drain seemed unavoidable. Pray for us that the expense it not too bad and we can return to normal as soon as possible.
Here is a picture of the car. Thank God Jeremy was not in it!

Calling all prayer warriors!!

While I was home, my brother and Traci were battling it out. She placed a restraining order on him because he told her he wanted to pick up his clothes at their apartment. She claims he has been beating her, yet has no evidence. She violated the restraining order by calling him at 2 a.m. to beg for help with her taxes.
The last time she claimed she was afraid he was going to kill her, she went to her parents to stay. Not long after, she called him and demanded he pick her up in Pittsburgh and drive her back to Conneticut. I don’t understand why you would beg someone whom you belive wants to kill you to come and get you and drive alone with them for 7 or more hours in the night. I am sure she will violate the 6 month extension she was granted for the restraining order to beg him for help.
SHE NEEDS PRAYER!!! For those of you who know her from Koinonia, please pray. Please put her name on prayer chains. I remember her being on leadership in Koinonia, having a heart for God, teaching me much about prayer.
She no longer displays that. My brother would cover for her coming in drunk every weekend and throwing up. He would tell us she just had the flu. She has called him after getting high. For those of you who know her, please pray! I am giving all of you details not to rat her out, but so you have specifics to pray for and because it is a true emergency!
I remember Traci telling me she was upset that her mother would say that her Christianity was just a phase she was going through. With our prayers, it does not have to be true. Pray that God would soften her heart and bring her back home.

We are on vacation

Lynn’s birthday was a success! The next day, however, was were hit with an April Fool’s joke straight from heaven. We got 4 inches of snow. I was ready to get out of “dodge”. My cousin, Audrey, got married this Saturday. We took advantage of seeing family and came early. We have had a great time. My brother is here and we have had a blast!! Lynn is thrilled to spend time with him and he has missed her. Here are some pictures from our trip so far. Enjoy!
Dad is here reading Lynn a story. Chuck joined in. I told everyone to smile and they all made the craziest faces. I love this picture!

Spring has brought new life

In Minnesota, snow has come and gone and I am longing for spring to stick. The good news is that our family has given me encouragement as a distraction. Jeremy’s sister, Joanna and her husband, Sam have been given an assistant pastoral position at the church Sam has had is internship. This means Joanna will only have to work one job!
Other great news is that my in-laws have been asked to fill a position in Indiana state. It has been a long and painful wait/ search. We are so excited for them.
Another long awaited prayer request on my heart has been answered. God has restored peace between my brother and I. I was praying and hoping that peace would come with he and his wife. Unfortunately, that is not what has transpired.
No matter what way God has made it to bring my brother back, I am so thankful he is back to his old self again. I ask that if any of you feel lead, please pray for both.

Sorry everyone for the very late update.

I had great, strong intentions of updating last week…… but, the continuous winter wonderland at my house had me a little low. I was not up for much of anything. The easter egg hunt was inside while our snowman watched from outside. My in-laws suggested making a snow bunny. It was a good suggestion, but very depressing.
There is good news! We were to be hit with another storm this week, but it moved just south of us. I was praising God all morning. Now that we have a new camera and spring looks like it might push through, we are up and running again.

I have a new camera!

We were able to replace my camera that stopped working. Jeremy insisted we look because he said that since I haven’t been able to take pictures for the website, I have looked “mopy”. He was right, I just didn’t think is showed as much. I have new pictures and I am excited to share them with you.
Lynn’s birthday is the 31st, so we are celebrating it on saturday the 29th. This will be her first birthday party(please pray for me). Until the party, all I have now are some gifts she got this week from grandparents.
This first gift came from Great grandpa Horner. Thanks for the Aquadoodle!

Her next gift came from grandma Horner. My mother-in-law is the ultimate quilter. Leave it to her to make 3 beautiful pillows, a pillow case, a butterfly pillow, a ragged Anne doll, and a matching dress to fit Lynn. And……….. Leave it to Lynn to point out that she does not match ragged Anne because her dress does not come with an apron. (Sorry Diane).

For any of you who send Lynn packages on a regular basis; don’t think your boxes are not as important as what is inside. Lynn will be sure to utilize them too….. just be sure it is her size.

During all of the excitement, Floyd behaved himself on his new bed as he always does. He maybe an old man, but he is my big, brown bear.

Can you believe it’s been 4 years!!!

On the 31st of this month, Lynn will be 4 years old!! I thought a lot of you might be a little Lynn deprived due to the lack of photos, so I will put up a photo of each year that Lynn has been with us. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Cabin fever and sick….. sick of cabin fever…..

Yes, it is still freezing here. The plus……. no one is talking about global warming!!! I have no pictures this week or any good stories. I have been soooo sick this week. My doctor thinks I have a weak strand of the flu and a sinus infection brewing and awaiting it’s turn at center stage.
I finally got an antibiotic today with lots of prayer before going back to the doctor. Jeremy has been able to fend it off so far and has been forced to work nights all week. I think he has put in 12-14 hours each night. I feel so sorry for him. Since he has been home, he gets up later in the day and plays with Lynn and I have taken a much needed nap to fend off the viruses. After my 4th day of napping….. I called the doctor with plans of not leaving without an antibiotic.
Praise God, it did not get ugly. I was reserving strength to snap her like a twig if she didn’t get out the pad and pen for me.
Lynn is almost 4!!! We have been talking about a party and she says she wants Dora the Explorer on her cake. We shall see.

California is looking to ban homeschooling

Today, I dropped Lynn off for preschool and found I have to take her to preschool screening before she can come back next year. I thought, FOR PRESCHOOL????? SCREENING???
Later, I found that the supreme court is attempting to rule out home-schooling. I guess if you are found homeschooling after the ruling and are not certifed through the state as a teacher for your child’s age group, you are then a criminal!
This hit me hard because I have a very good friend who has 4 children and homeschools 2 of them in California. I would ask all of you to pray for this family and many others in this state.
Here is an article for more information, click here.
