More of the same

We are enjoying just waiting for now. Although, we have run into many individuals who needed and update so I feel like we have been talking about it nonstop.
Our friends who are adopting from China are leaving soon. They will leave next week and have to stay 18 days to finalize everything. Keep them in your prayers.

Just waiting

We don’t have anything new to report for this week. However, I do have an unspoken prayer request relating to this area in our lives. If any of you would like to pray for us to have wisdom and see God’s will clearly, it would be much appreciated. Thank you to all who keep us in your prayers. A more specific prayer request is for the money we still need for our trip.
Also, a quick update on our friends who have waited 3 years for the adoption from China. Well, it seems that they have switched agencies and were refered to a list of “children in waiting”. They have found a 3 year old girl named Emma. They are to travel to Bejing on the 11th or 14th of September to get her!

Now we can relax for a while…

Our dossier arrived on August 11 in Ethiopia. The courts in Ethiopia are closed from August-October. We are expecting a referal in April and to travel in June as I have said before. I really thought about the time line and thought it might be perfect. If we pick up our new addition in June, that will give us the whole summer to bond as a family. Then in the fall, Lynn goes to Kindergarten. It might be nice to go back to just having one child……… at least for a half of a day during the week.
For now, we still need over $4,000 for all that is involved in traveling and picking up our child. Please keep us in your prayers.

Hip Hip Horray!!!!!!

Today, we received a tracking number for our dossier which means it is on it’s way to Ethiopia!!!! We are so excited that all paperwork is out of the house and on it’s way. Thank you to all who have kept us in prayer. We were hoping and praying the dossier would not have to come back and be fixed. Keep praying because there are still things to do in preparation for what is to come. Also, there are many road blocks that could come up ahead.

Our second try…

Well, we have made all the necessary changes and our dossier has arrived at America World today. Please pray for us this weekend that we may feel a sense that all is now in the Lord’s hands and we can sit back and relax a little. If I hear anything new, I will update this entry as soon as I hear it. Until then, keep praying!
In case you are wondering….. so, what does the time frame look like so far. If all goes smooth this time around, we should get a referal by April and travel in June. Thank you to all who commit to praying for us.

Tip toeing forward once again

Our dossier was returned on monday, but we haven’t been able to have a conversation with anyone until Friday. As of today, we know what the next steps are in order to return it and get it to Ethiopia. In the process, we found that the items that were messed up, were not messed up, the secretary didn’t see that what needed to be there was already there.
Anyway, all should be done soon and hopefully we can be 100% sure it is approved before we send it again. We will keep you updated on what happens in the next week.

Not as good as we had hoped for….

Have you ever watched a scene in a show or movie where a guy lets down his guard to someone he thinks he can trust and in a split second, the one he thought he could trust shoots him right in the heart. At first, the guy checks to see if he has really been shot. Then, he drops to his knees and takes a look at the guy who shot him like, “I thought I could trust you.” Then he falls completely on the ground.
I have been feeling a little like that this week. This scenero may seem a little over dramatic…. unless you have dealt with infertility. We sent our dossier via email a couple of weeks ago to ensure that all paperwork was there and correctly done. Once we were approved on what was there and what needed changed, we sent it. I let my guard down believing that all would be approved again and sent immediately. Thursday, I got a call from the social worker’s secretary saying that many things were not correct and a couple of things were missing. She said she would have to send the whole thing back and have me make the corrections.
I couldn’t believe this. It was approved 2 weeks ago, what happened?? When told the secretary that it had already been approved, she told us she was not arguing it with us and she had to go. I am only sharing this with all of you because I need your prayers desperately. It was like I was hit in the center of my heart so fast, I had to check to see if I was.
For now, I feel I am on the floor and I haven’t been able to get back on my feet. I may be taking this way to personal, but these people are between me and a baby. This week I either want to push everyone out of the way to get him or her, or I want to give up and said, “okay, you win.”
I really haven’t been able to talk much with my friends or family about it, but I can type and all who keep us in thier thoughts and prayers need to know about it. We need you now more than ever. Thank you for your love and concern for us.

FINALLY!!

This wednesday, I sent out our dossier. I walked into PostNet with envelopes gripped tight and pressed against my chest. I told the woman working there, “Listen here, this in my hands is my adoption dossier; it has my whole life in here. I need this to get where it is going without being bent or mangled in any way and in 2 days or less, understand??”
She smiled and said, “It’s okay, I have many couples come in here saying the same thing and looking the same way you do.”
The worst part was that once she sealed it and check with me that I didn’t need anything else to go in the package………….. I realized….. I DIDN’T PUT IN THE CHECK!!
I called the agency and all is well. I sent it through regular mail and things will proceed anyway. Well, this friday, the agency called because they got it right on schedule. I was thrilled!
What will happen next is:
* The agency will check to make sure all is there and done the right way on Tuesday.
* If all goes well, we should be getting a confirmation that our dossier is on it’s way to Ethiopia on Friday.
I am so thankful and full of praise that the dossier is out of our house and totally in the Lord’s hands now.
Please pray:
- things progress quicker than expected
- finances to make the trip, including visas
- our reading assignments get done

The end is near

We finally heard from our social worker. She looked over our dossier and we have to add a little and make a few changes, but nothing major. By next week, we should be sending it off and shortly after, off to Ethiopia. I have been feeling so positive this week. I got to meet a mother who has just adopted 2 from Ethiopia this week. It was so exciting to see them and for Lynn to see them. Thank you for all who keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We are anxious for the papers to be in so we can just wait. Please pray for a speedy referal. We also ask that you pray for us for the next payment installment that will be around the time we go. It will be over $4,000 and will cover our flight, hotel stay, translater, etc.
Other exciting news, Lynn just got accepted into the 3 day/week preschool program. I am trusting God will provide a way to pay and that I will need those days for her to be in preschool. I still have a lot of reading material to read for the adoption.

Next step has been fairly painless…

This friday, Jeremy and I took up our documents up to the secretary of the state’s office to be certified. Here is the great news: We only had to have 2 documents certified (as far as we know for now) and it only took 30 minutes and $10!!
I believe we are finally ready to send off the dossier (Everyone breathe a deep sigh with me).
The bad news is that our new social worker is still difficult to get a hold of. Please pray that they will become more cooperative as we send our papers in. Thank you to all who keep us in your prayers. As you can see, your prayers have been answered.
